Day Of The Pumpkin

Last week we took the girls to the pumpkin patch in Petaluma. We met our friends Matt & Ali, and Miss Darlene there and had a wonderful time in the heat! We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. The three pumpkins in the picture with Rhian were the three we were choosing from. We ended up with the short squat one on the left. And we turned it in to a pretty cute happy pig jack-o-lantern. Rhian didn't want anything scary.
Lily Marie could have cared less that we were at a pumpkin patch. She was content to just sit and gnaw on her fingers and ignore the rest of the goings on. We couldn't even get her to smile for a picture. Not even with 6 people trying. Oh well. I guess we just weren't funny, although if anyone else were watching they probably were getting a kick out of us.

When it was time to carve the pumpkin Rhian was insistent on using a spoon. She gave that up after about two attempts at clean scooping. After we conviced her that we had soap and water for cleaning ourselves up, we had her scooping out guts and seeds like an old pro. She thought the "boogers" were pretty funny! She also made a video about Carving Pumpkins starring Rhian as Paula Dean and Josh as Bobby Dean, her son. Unfortunately, I cannot get the videos to upload so I cannot share that with you. (I have not given up yet... some day I will make it work!) I bet you never knew that carving pumpkins involved BUTTER!
