The State Fair

We went to the State Fair on Saturday with Mammy and Poppa. Lily chilled in the stroller most of the day, but here she is hanging out on Daddy's lap after a diaper change on a grassy knoll. Rhian thinks she is a model. I guess that is what we get for watching America's Next Top Model a couple times with her in the room. Now she is all about posing.
I took Rhian into the petting zoo. I felt bad for the animals in there. They were so tired and hot and just sort of lounging around a bit lethargic. Rhian, however, loved it because she was able to pet and hug and be really close to all the different animals. Another highlight for Rhian was in the animal nursery we saw a momma pig and her 11 piglets who were born that same day. Some of which were born just minutes before we got there. They were still waiting for a couple more to be born, but we didn't get to see any be born.

Awe..... Daddy and Lily were snuggling in the shade while Rhian took a pony ride. Yes, the hairy mountain man in the picture is Josh.

How Grown Up Are They?!

On Tuesday we had to take Lily to a doctor's appointment. We didn't have much notice to work out childcare for Rhian, so she went to work with Mammy. Well, if you ask Rhian she will tell you she "went to school" that day. The night before she packed her Little Mermaid backpack with her preschool workbooks, some snacks, a pencil, a box of crayons and some Pet Shop toys. She laid her clothes out; she even agreed to wear pants in case she got to play on the playground so she wouldn't have to worry about not showing panties. She woke up bright and early and told Daddy "I have to get ready for school" and quickly went about her business preparing. She is carrying her "My First Dictionary".
In school she learned the word SCRUMPTIOUS and used it properly at dinnertime. For dinner that night she made pizza almost entirely by herself. She sliced (or more like chunked) the olives (with a butter knife), put on the sauce and cheese, carefully placed the pepperoni and then piled on the olives. She enjoyed the fact that the chef gets to try everything as they cook.
According to Rhian, all Lily does is "burp. poop. sleep. eat. suck her pacifier. spit. toot. and sometimes cry." Today Lily added "Chill by the pool" to the list. While big sissy went swimming, Lily lounged in the shade. She swatted at an annoying fly and cooed away happily.

Smiles

Rhian is such a wonderful big sister. She loves to hold Lily and read to her. The other day when I was putting Rhian down for her nap Lily was crying in the living room. Rhian very sweetly said "Momma, can you do me a favor? Will you give Lily her suck suck?" I can't wait until Lily starts really being responsive to Rhian. I know they will have so much fun together.
Lily is starting to respond with smiles. She has a beautiful toothless grin. I love it. She hasn't started laughing out loud yet, but you can see the joy in her eyes. She slept through the night Thursday night, which made me smile. Josh was bummed that he did not get to enjoy the experience since he had to be at work at 5am. We hope it will happen again soon.

I took Rhian to Mammy & Poppa's on Friday night for a sleepover on Friday night and this is how I found Josh and Lily when I came home. I was home for about a half hour before I snapped this picture and woke them up.

This next picture is a little creepy, I know. Rhian has a Lily-sized baby doll she named Momma Mia. Momma Mia likes to wear Lily's clothes. Today Rhian and Momma Mia were twins. Once Josh saw Momma Mia swinging in Lily's baby swing while he was holding Lily and became very confused.

Something New

We are going to try this new way of sharing pictures with you all. We have given up on Shutterfly for now. Hopefully this works for everyone. I really don't know what to write about. Josh said I should explain the couple pictures I have posted. The first is Rhian and Josh playing Super Slueths. They made invitations to a Super Slueth Slumber Party and Super Slueth masks. Josh is a good sport! The second picture is Lily wearing the froggy robe that Poppa bought for Rhian when Rhian was little.
